Pinhead Circus – Everything Else is a Gone Conclusion – Review

Pinhead Circus

Everything Else is a Gone Conclusion (BYO)
by Scott Hefflon

Rapidly becoming everyone’s fave Colorado punk band (and there’s a surprising number of good bands from the state that gave us Coors and Mork & Mindy, in case you haven’t noticed), Pinhead Circus combine all the best elements of pop/punk. They have the recipe for great songs down, Pat Sajak. With tips of the hat to Footloose (that’s twice in one column, this can’t be a good omen) and Rick Springfield (their cover of “I’ve Done Everything for You” ain’t gonna win any awards, but I’m probably biased cuz Idid the definitive version on a tape you’ll never find), Pinhead Circus also add elements of NOFX, The Bouncing Souls, and many others to the mix without ever being guilty of redundancy or theft. Influences effect the raspily melodic vocals, the flailing drums, the chugging guitars, and the shouted harmonies, but each song is uniquely PC’s. They’ve toured with the best (Lagwagon, Vandals, No Use For A Name), they did a split with the Nobodys and have a re-issue or EP on Soda Jerk, and this is their second full-length for BYO.
