Revelation Sampler Summer 1999 – Review

Revelation Records

1999 Summer Sampler (Revelation)
by Tim Den

Revelation is definitely one of the top hardcore labels today. Respected for their history and loved by almost everyone in the underground (thanks in part to former artists like Quicksand, Gorilla Biscuits, Youth Of Today, and more), they lead the pack with some of the best bands in the genre without sacrificing originality. Shai Hulud, Damnation A.D., The Judas Factor, and Speak 714 all play heavy hardcore without sounding watered-down (or similar to each other), while sensitive-guy outfits Garrison, Gameface, and Farside rock the fuck out of their melodic attacks and introspective lyrics. Sure, newer bands like Kill Holiday and Where Fear And Weapons Meet don’t really live up to their predecessors Shades Apart and Elliott, but the cream of the crop makes up for this minor flaw. Definitely out to progress with each release, Revelation will no doubt continue their ten-year tradition of releasing the most diverse and excellent hardcore. Others appearing: Fastbreak, Will Haven, The Nerve Agents, Himsa, and By A Thread.
