Over It – Review

Over It

(Negative Progression)
by Scott Hefflon

I gotta hand it to these kids, they take the dead horse of heartfelt melodic rock and breath a little life into it. While sounding like sweet cherries, Over It thunder their way through an EP with style and grace, breaking it up with emo-y breakdowns and intros that (I’m told) are very East Coast. They’re called the leaders of the next generation of bands from Virginia, following, ahem, last year’s “pioneers,” Avail, Ann Beretta, and Funsize. While not revolutionary in any way, shape, or form, they’re fun and have just released the best-sounding record on Negative Progression. Worth looking into.
