Slick Sixty – Nibs and Nabs – Review

Slick Sixty

Nibs and Nabs (Mute)
by Lex Marburger

Hooray for Slick Sixty, who’ve made the album the Chemical Brothers and Death in Vegas wished they could have made. Nibs and Nabs sounds like what would happen if the Big Beat movement got some edjamicashun. Big grooves, with a tip o’ the hat to old-school hip hop (but not overly fawning), a little trumpet thrown in, and plenty o’ keyboard doodling to keep feet firmly placed in ’99.

Obscure bands to reference: Project Pollen, Fatboy Slim’s first album, Hooverphonic… Don’t let this one get away, ‘kay?
