Hella – Hold Your Horse Is – Review

Hella

Hold Your Horse Is (5rc)
by Lex Marburger

The term “spazz-core” has been bandied about. It fits Hella. Two guys, guitar & drums. Guitar, Les Claypool-style tapping (but with guitar). Drums, well… it’s hard to believe what this guy is doing on a drumset. He’s got more talent than he knows what to do with. Together, they play tight, intricate, bizarre music that’ll make most music school geeks wet their pants. Their talent alone will take you through the first 20 minutes of Hold Your Horse Is. After that, you get tired, and wish they would just hold something down for a while. Give ’em a few years, let ’em settle, and then we’ll hear something.
