Cro-Mags – Revenge – Review

Cro-Mags

Revenge
by Tim Den

Cro-Mags hold the same respect reserved for legends like Agnostic Front and Murphy’s Law, and Revenge won’t change that any time soon. With the NY toughness that made their earlier efforts like The Age of Quarrel trend-setting and influential, Revenge has the best elements of street smarts and honest hardcore done tastefully. It’s fast and furious when it needs to be (“Premeditated”), with blue-collar sing-alongs when it feels like it (“Jones,” “My Life”), and it’ll teach the New School young ‘uns lessons in sweet grooves as well (“Can You Feel?”). Skimming through the disc, it’s no wonder bands like Biohazard and Machine Head claim such allegiance to the ‘Mags. They practically wrote the how-to book on HC. Add Rocky George (ex-Suicidal Tendencies) in a guest lead guitarist role, and you’ve got one hardcore record that does not fail.
