Neck – Should My Fist Eye – Review

Neck

Should My Fist Eye (Cho’Sin)
by Tim Den

This is sick. I’ve known that Neck was a force to be reckoned with, owning an old 7″ of theirs and all, but Should My Fist Eye is a huge leap even from their already chameleon-like entity of the past. Jam Tool’s sludgey depressiveness together with Cave-In’s technicality, Botch’s spine-tapping guitarings, Deftone’s melodic false serenity and a stunning display of musicianship into a monster truck-sized production and you’ll get the idea. This is as heavy as heavy gets (borderlining death metal hardcore) and as mellow as rock music allows (check out the intro to “Crawling Away”). In other words: covering the whole spectrum of aggressive music with flawless ease and a frightening ability to play. Beautiful, surreal artwork too. This is a must.
