Podstar

(Noisome)
by Tim Den

Upbeat, fun power pop that reminds me of The Figgs’ first record. Produced by Ed Rose (The Get Up Kids, Ultimate Fakebook), too! Sweet vocals that border on lovely sneering, the kind that makes bands like Versus and Ben Folds Five witty and humorous, but not obnoxious like, say, The Smashing Pumpkins. There are plenty of falsettos, ’70s rock-isms that sound like Elton John or the more rockin’ Billy Joel tunes as well. One of the only indie-rock/emo bands based in the fertile Midwest that has succeeded in turning classic rock influences into modern songs. A very, very enjoyable and well-rounded record.
