Sunday’s Best – Poised to Break – Review

Sunday’s Best

Poised to Break (Polyvinyl)
by Tim Den

Though not at the top of the hierarchy, Sunday’s Best does a fine job of holding their own in the genre of “sometimes Knapsack, sometimes emo new wave.” While the vocals are often struggling to find footing — or even just solidarity — they do try to create a place for themselves within the structure of the songs instead of drifting aimlessly. Pop punk rears its head once in a while, as do the usual boy/girl-themed lyrics. Nothing outrageously grabbing, but Sunday’s Best know what they want to sound like and they’re sticking to it.
