A Working Title in Green (Fueled By Ramen)
by Tim Den
From the Land Down Under, Blueline Medic absorb Mineral’s arpeggios and Don Henley’s “Last Days of Summer” and turn them into pulsing melodies. Sometimes dark, sometimes taking a backseat to the swelling atmosphere, the just-a-bit-raspy vocals of guitarist Donnie Dureau escape the dreaded emo-punk routines and instead go for big pop hooks. Even though this is just a four-song EP, there’s a feeling that Blueline Medic are just beginning to show us their Aussie powers. The impending US tour and the lessons they’ll learn from it will no doubt make them even tighter and more inventive in the future, so I’d keep my eye on them if I were you.
