I’m very pleased to say that industrial music isn’t all simply angry monotony. Nor is it just dance-trance-boom-boom techno gone awry with distorted vox and thin guitar. Yes, KMFDMDFMK (whichever acronym you prefer, really) was, is, will be seminal, or semi-seminal, to be more exact. But really, sometimes you just want more stuff going on in yer music. Actually, I always want more stuff going on.

Enter DJ? Acucrack, who’ve decided to take some of the more adventurous aspects of electronica and spit some venom into the beats. The result is Sorted, a fresh-ish industrial sound, moved beyond the Cleopatra/Metropolis vein, a not-quite Prodigy, not-quite C-Tec mix, something to appeal to the new-bombed dance punks, a scratchy mess of beats and assorted noises. The band that spawned these guys is Acumen Nation, a band that, not unlike Front Line Assembly (who spawned Delerium (sic) and was a rather large crossover success) is not as diverse, accomplished, or complex as the band spun-off. Take equal parts breakbeat, big beat, trip hop, and drum’n’bass, tweak ’em through the minds of a coupla bored rivetheads, and you got the pix.
