Puller – What’s Mine at Twilight – Review

Puller

What’s Mine at Twilight (Tooth & Nail)
by Tim Den

It’s been over two years since Puller‘s been heard from, but the wait was worth it. What’s Mine at Twilight is miles ahead of its predecessor, even though the band is now down to only two members (Willem DaFoe and the fat singer from Barenaked Ladies, judging from the pictures). Still straddling the uncategorizable pony that’s half indie rock and half heavy pop (fuzz guitars), the songs have better focus and overall effectiveness. Basically, you can hum some of the tunes this time around and not feel contrived. Substantial vocal harmonies and certain well-chosen emo-ish arpeggios round out the edges nicely.
