Featuring three ex-members of Harvest, The Hope Conspiracy treads familiar metalcore territory but manages to throw in nice riffing syncopations to make the journey worthwhile. Harvest’s love of Slayer tri-tones are still present, but the vocalist of this new outfit keeps the band from falling into “deathcore” territory by delivering clear-throated shouts. Crisp, crushing production and a barb wire crunch make Coldblue a pretty devastating explosion.
