The Vigilantes – No Destiny – Review

The Vigilantes

No Destiny (TKO)
by Scott Hefflon

This six-song EP’s 19 minutes carry more whoa-whoa good times than most full-lengths, and while I wanna encourage them and tell everyone I know to keep an eye out for these kids (average age is 17, I hear), I gotta say that the singer really oughtta not swallow the mic so much and maybe sneak in a whole lotta practice before cutting another record. The band kicks out the Misfits style and the production is really full and hard, and while the singer’s obviously got a big voice and hits most of the notes, he needs to work on his timing and develop the roundness of his voice without eating the mic (yeah, it shows, buddy). They have the fashion and the attitude parts down, and musically they chug along just fine, and while the vocals probably translate fine live, this ain’t live. This all sounds negative, but I get a real rush outta the band, I just think they need to work on a few details…
