Alkaline Trio – From Here to Infirmary – Review

Alkaline Trio

From Here to Infirmary (Vagrant)
by Tim Den

All the hype’s not wasted here. Having heard Alkaline Trio during their infancy, I must say I’m thoroughly impressed by how mature and cohesive they’ve become. They’ve always had that spark of magic buried within their Jawbreaker-ish pop songs, but they’ve refined it this time. The cynical yet sentimental remarks flow effortlessly from one singer to another, as chiseled chords and so-natural-it’s-gotta-be-magic melodies spring forth like they’ve always belonged in your subconscious. It’s as if you’ve always known how great grown-up pop punk can be; Alkaline Trio simply gave flesh to the idea. Finally, a “buzz” band that deserves all the attention they’re getting.
