Shadow Gallery – Legacy – Review

Shadow Gallery

Legacy (Magna Carta)
by Scott Hefflon

Six songs in 70 minutes. This PA sextet cross over from heavy metal to prog metal, a genre I’m pretty unfamiliar with. By choice. It’s a little fruity, a little too chipper for my taste, and they like their keyboards even more than bands like Stratovarious and Children of Bodom, and that’s about as far as I’m willing to go with the post-Yngwie keys’n’guitar trading riffs hoo-hah. But Shadow Gallery sure as shit can play like mad, and while the singer penetrates the heavens with his falsetto more than seems necessary, the stacked harmonies are moving and rousing and’ll inspire you to lock arms with your brothers in metal and skip around the room. Er, um, kick up yer heels in a manly fashion. Oh, whatever…
