Something Corporate – Audioboxer – Review

Something Corporate

Audioboxer (Drive-Thru)
by Scott Hefflon

Terrible band name, but I like hints of what’s going on here… Something Corporate singer/songwriter Andrew McMahon is 18, with all the wisdom and creativity his age can muster, and says he has a thing for ’70s-era Elton John. Mix that with A New Found Glory, Saves the Day, Jimmy Eat World and Ben Folds influences and you’ve got something worth investing in. Cuz the kids aren’t going to get it, but they’ll get it, got it? The kid’s off to a good start, with moments like a Jellyfish cover band just starting out on their own. Like a future Ben Folds as he finds his legs. Like the early days of anyone who later became good, this kid’s got the right stuff, he’s just got to write’n’perform his cute little ass off for a few years and not get distracted by all the cute girls and suck-ups who say he’s great now. Cuz he’s not. But he could be. Keep at it, buddy…
