Nerf Herder – My E.P. – Review

Nerf Herder

My E.P. (My)
by Scott Hefflon

Nerf Herder are one of those bands who peaked early. It’s the problem with being naturals. They do what they do, and some of it works and some of it flops, and I don’t think they can tell the difference. Some of their songs, obviously, are accidental genius, but as time goes on and more records come out, it’s pretty obvious that they have a lot of useless songs, too. Really, really dumb stuff, and I’m a fan of dumb stuff, but some of this stuff is just terrible (I don’t just mean on this six-song EP, I mean in general). For a band who nailed a couple gems on their debut and followed with one of my favorite songs in the last few years, “Don’t Hate Me (Because I’m Beautiful)” from the South Park guys’ silly/classic BASEketball, the fact that they release crap like “Love Sandwich” is just painful. “High School” is pretty funny though…
