Whippersnapper – Appearances Wear Thin – Review

Whippersnapper

Appearances Wear Thin (Fueled By Ramen)
by Tim Den

Whoa! What happened to the sound quality? Appearances Wear Thin sounds like a home recording compared to The Long Walk. No matter though, cuz the Whippersnapper boys still make the best of it with their trademark dueling guitars, uplifting melodies, and honest enthusiasm. The vocal harmonies aren’t as plentiful this time around, maybe to make room for vocalist Andy Munn’s new, “rougher” vocal style. Gems like “Fine Line Life” (great opening!), “Forever,” and “One Last Fight” contain some monstrous choruses, more than enough to silence the pop-punk naysayers and squash the competition. Despite the less-than-stellar recording quality, this is a swift uppercut from one of the genre’s best.
