Punk Rock Strike – Volume Three: Third Strike – Review

Punk Rock Strike

Volume Three: Third Strike (Springman)
by Scott Hefflon

The third installment of Springman’s $1 hour-plus comp series supporting underground punkpop. That’s right, one dollar. And there are 22 songs here! So really, that dollar you found on the ground?, fuck saving it for a rainy day (like a buck is worth more on a rainy day or something), send it to Springman and get this comp. Even for someone (me, duh) who’s heard pretty much every punk record that’s come out in the last eight to ten years, there’re a couple surprises/treats, a few things I knew ahead of time I’d like, and, of course, a couple handfuls of young hopefuls who’ll continue to open for bands I won’t go see until they give up and get day jobs. From punkpop to emopunk and (uh, I guess that’s it, so we’ll go) back again, the treats are worth the lousy buck, ok? Bands striking it rich (hopefully) and striking out: The Sidekicks, Amazing Transparent Man, Jinxpack, Secretions, Saturday Supercade, The Gamits, Red Hot Valentines, The Fairlanes, My New Life, As You Wish, Next To Nothing, Happy Campers, Bottom Line, Desapecidos, 800 Octane, Travoltas, Groovie Ghoulies, Fonzarellies, Latham, Short Round, Audio Crush, Cruiserweight.
