Boy Sets Fire – Live for Today – Review

Boy Sets Fire

Live for Today (Wind-Up)
by Adrian Bromley

Politically-charged melodic hardcore/noisecore act Boy Sets Fire have found a new home at Wind-Up, home of Creed, and to celebrate, the band has issued an EP. The combination of three new songs (“Release the Dogs,” “Bathory’s Sainthood,” and “Curtain Call”) and three live tracks is pretty solid. Out of the new songs, “Release the Dogs” is the most intense, with singer Nathan Gray snarling his words between melodic choruses. Of the three live tracks, “Handful of Redemption” (from their forthcoming album out in April) truly captures the spirit of BSF. While only six songs, Live for Today is a cool segue.
