Eleventeen – In The Air – Review

Eleventeen

In The Air (Sessions)
by Emily Joyce

Eleventeen is a harder modern rock band consumed by love, loss, and self-destruction in an abundance. Sounding remarkably like Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows, the scorned romantic vocalist of Eleventeen confesses in “Portrait of a Man,” “so I’ll keep running with this limp you’ll never see/I built this noose with shaky hands, and I will wear it without regret” atop a Matchbox 20 sound. The best songs on In the Air, “Crestfallen” and the title track, incorporate synth, piano, and organ. Choruses of pain and remembrances of a time not fully figured out, forever lingering in the mind.
