Sylvie – I Wish I Was Driving – Review

Sylvie

I Wish I Was Driving (Does Everyone Stare?)
by Tim Den

Every band claims Jawbox as an influence, but Sylvie truly sound like they could fill that vacancy left by the Almighty J. The just-right staccato bass lines, smartly-arranged clangy guitars, and unpredictable melodies (similar to Maynard James Keenan’s) make I Wish I Was Driving the perfect companion to all your mid-’90s Dischord and Tool albums. With an understanding of that lonely-emo-from-the-praries sound (“Train Wreck”), I’d say Sylvie are a band to watch.
