Psyopus – Ideas of Reference – Review

Psyopus

Ideas of Reference (Black Market)
by Adrian Bromley

What the fuck is going on here? This is like a wicked flashback to the only time I ever did acid. Psyopus‘ debut release is a hyperactive blur of aggression, technicality, and insanity thrown to the wind without a care in the world, the steadfast concoctions falling wherever they may and doing as much damage as possible. Like a bombastic rendition of earlier Cave In material (before they went all prog-emo), this album will only be spun once in a while, as I don’t think my heart can dabble with this hyper mess on a regular basis. Good stuff, for sure, but it’s a lil’ too much for me.
