I think this is amplified folk rock, because it appears more about what’s being said than being able to sing especially well or play anything very different. I don’t follow lyrics much, because most lyrics suck, no matter how many mom’s put them proudly on their refrigerators. But these lyrics sound laid back and clever, and he knows it, littering them with irony and statements about not really caring much. “Honest” delivery means his voice cracks a lot, and no one made him do another take.
