Can You Dig It? (Blue Disguise)
by Scott Hefflon
I hate bio writers. They’re lying sacks of shit, the lot of them. They make such inflated claims, aside from simply being untrue, they raise expectations so high, a solid debut like Can You Dig It? is a let-down compared to the hype. It’s a debut, the band’s been around for a fuckin’ year, they’re not ready to take over the world, and the world doesn’t really need taking over, thanks. We just need a couple dozen more bands worth listening to.
So yeah, produced by Jim Diamond (Dirtbombs, White Stripes) in Deetroit (where else?), yeah, they’ve got the vintage gear and know how to get the right sounds, and the style is meant to shine in a live setting, the release being a way to get familiar so you can sing along. They’re best when they get loose and just let it fly, which again, surely works better in a live setting. Get ’em on the mp3 CD, cuz Seattle shouldn’t keep a diamond in the rough like this a secret.
