Children of Our Mistakes (Silent Majority Group)

Took a few Google searches, but here it is: SMG is a boutique label outta Orlando, Florida, and founders discovered Creed and Sevendust, and bands on their roster include Candlebox and Tantric. So there you have it, heavy/active rock radio-friendly knock-offs of the real thing. Rock sure can be catchy and repetitive, and yeah, it can be surface-level and, well, stupid. Yet it still rocks, cuz it’s pure, vital, and the listener connects with it at a gut level, a level beyond “yeah, the lyrics are dumb, but something about it grabs me.” This (and lots and lots of other radio drivel) is formulaic, mother-approved, streamlined for mass-consumption, and has no soul or danger or heart left. It’s pop, at its lowest form, just louder.

So Vayden, like lots of other bands, has the skill, just haven’t yet found their identity. They’re a cover band with a CD of “originals” to their credit. This is the AZ band’s debut, so perhaps they’ll grow into something worth checking out, or perhaps they’ll be yet another crappy MySpace band friending you.
