I Love Rich

This is the kinda stuff that’s either stupid and fun, or really, really, really bad. Living in Boston, I’ve been blessed with The Upper Crust, so AC/DC-inspired joke rockers best bring their A-game. I Love Rich are from Chicago, love Kiss, and can ape the style well. But any band that can write a solid rocker like “Everybody’s Getting Laid Tonight” knows their craft. Other songs include “Let’s Fuck All Night” and “I’m Only Here Cuz Your Sister Said No,” which is simply a really great title. The cover art probably turns a lot of people away, and really, there’s only so long you can milk playing Kiss songs – even if you’re Kiss – and there’s not really a whole lot else going on here. The Upper Crust had their powdered wig aristocrat schtick AND had clever wordplay and talented playing, so again, joke rock bands really have to be witty and flexible or they’re just a short-lived one-off novelty.
