Skandinavisk Misantropi (Season of Mist)
by Scott Hefflon

From what passes for a bio from an underground metal label, Skitliv is “a bleak soundtrack to a personal apocalypse: Dark, loathing, hating, and full of venomous spite.” At least they didn’t end with HAIL!!! HAIL!!! HAIL!!!!!!!! So yeah, this is a project of Mayhem singer Maniac, with a few of his hate-filled buddies chipping in. Some “spoken word” spitting, some lumbering riffs simply cuz they sounded ugly, and plenty of weirdness and staggering evil (staggering like a zombie: Mindless, hungry, angry, random, deadly). This falls somewhere between stupid, self-indugent wanking (“look mom, I’m evil!”) and a “good” background CD to zone out to before blacking out after yet another night of trying to drink away all memories of yet another day on this god-forsaken planet.
