Yup, from a split on Doghouse (where The All-American Rejects got their start) to Epitaph to Columbia, Motion City Soundtrack continue to fine-tune their craft. They’re poppy as all hell, catchy as a cold, and teenage girls around the world surely wait for the cute boy in art class to text them back while listening to this in their bedrooms, dreaming their little dreams. Luckily, all “fuck boy bands” snarling aside, MCD are a whole less whiny than most, and they have a nice, full, rich guitar churn. So while it’s still unashamed alt.pop for lovestruck girls, so was Cheap Trick to a large extent, and that Robin Zander fellow was pretty whiny, admit it.
