Nathan Leigh – Glitch – Review

nathenleigh200Nathan Leigh

Glitch EP
by Scott Hefflon

Prolific guy, this Nathan Leigh. Got four solo releases, and plays in Boston’s A Thousand Ships and Brooklyn’s Super Mirage. While often dipping into alt.boy band pop, he can also sing with the depth of Ben Folds, and his electronic soundscaping and soundbit tinkerings help keep things interesting. While fans of interchangeable tousled-hair bands will find the pop parts familiar, they have lots of horrid bands to send Myspace love to. Anyone over the age of 15 will find the lack of emo-drippiness refreshing, and the blip’n’bloop-infused indie rock well-done. Closing track is a cover of Depeche Mode’s “Just Can’t Get Enough,” which he totally makes his own, while absolutely respecting the nuances of the original. Get this guy on the mp3 CD.
