“Weird Al” Yankovic Announces The Alpocalypse Tour

The world’s biggest selling comedy recording artist of all time, “Weird Al” Yankovic announces dates for The Alpocalypse Tour. The eagerly awaited U.S. Fall tour will kick off in North Las Vegas, NV on September 10th, 2011.  Touring in support of his highest charting album (No. 9 on the Billboard 200 albums chart) and 13th studio release, Alpocalypse (Jive Records), Al and his band mates will perform songs spanning his storied three decade plus career.
 
The 3-time Grammy Award-winner’s first album in nearly 5 years, Alpocalypse features the much-talked-about Lady Gaga parody “Perform This Way” (click to listen) as well as parodies of hits by Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, T.I. and B.o.B. featuring Bruno Mars. Al and his long-time band were aided and abetted in the recording studio by guest appearances from Taylor Hanson and The Doors’ Ray Manzarek.

“Weird Al’s” mastery of pop-culture parody has been a constant in the music industry and his hit singles such as “Eat It,” “Smells Like Nirvana,” “Amish Paradise” and “White & Nerdy” have garnered him international acclaim.  He recently added “NY Times Bestselling Author” to his list of accomplishments with the publication of his children’s book When I Grow Up (HarperCollins) – the app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch was recently released. His 2006 album Straight Outta Lynwood – featured the platinum-selling Billboard Top 10 single “White & Nerdy,” the video of which spent two months at #1 on iTunes.
