Major label rock is always dicey. The Black Crowes are on a major, The Darkness is on a major. There are probably other examples of new rock bands on a major that don’t suck, but Andrew WK is all that’s coming to mind, and that’s a different breed. American Minor is a damn fine band. So were Dead Boys and Guns N’ Roses, and they were on majors, as were Sex Pistols, ZZ Top, AC/DC, and most classic rock bands. Don’t automatically hate it because it’s on a major. They sometimes accidentally get it right. Play this loud at a BBQ and see if anyone complains.
