How I Learned to Stop Giving A Shit and Love Mindless Self Indulgence (Metropolis)
By Rick Ecker

After five years, Mindless Self Indulgence is back with an album completely funded by a Kickstarter campaign that raised 150 percent more than they were asking for. Formed back in 1997 and now featuring Jimmy Urine on vocals and programming, Steve, Righ? on guitars, Kitty on drums and Lyn Z on bass, MSI comes at you with the power of a tornado and the profanity of a drunken sailor on shore leave.

“Witness” kicks off the album with a resounding “Son Of A Bitch!” followed by a mix of heavy guitars and synth riffs mixed with enough power to make your guts rumble. “Fuck Machine” is a catchy and offensive track that will have kids shouting the chorus and pissing off people everywhere. “It Gets Worse” tells everyone how upbeat everything is and to stay positive: No, it’s a rant about how shitty things are going to become. “I Want To Be Black” is all about giving up on being white and being black like Morgan Freeman. Classic! “Anonymous” is a whirlwind of a track, while “Kill You All in a Hip Hop Rage” talks about how shitty the rap industry is, and how if dead rappers such as Tupac, Eazy-E, Biggie, and ODB were alive today, they would kill all of the lame rappers today in a hip hop rage. The last song is a cover of Supertramp’s “The Logical Song,” and is one of the highlights on the album.

With a ton of powerful songs and the ability to make you laugh and offend people, this should be a popular album with the kids. I can’t wait to put it on in the car and piss off people while I’m driving. I love the album and I highly recommend this one.
