I’m late to the Noiseheads game, and it’s because I’m old and I don’t care. Guess what, now I do, kinda. The Pensacola, Florida, band has been around since the late aughts, and “Hey” is a ripper. It’s got the loud-(somewhat) quiet-loud dynamics, with an emphasis on loud. There is a huge wall of industrial fuzz on here. A more than cursory listen to the band’s back catalogue shows somewhat diverse alt-rock, with an emphasis on the guitar. I’m not sure what the band did in the studio to get this level of thick sauce on the ditty, and I don’t care. Judging by the video, “Hey” is a Stuart Smalley update for our cynical, crap times
