The Mosfets’ “Radio, Turn Me On” is a catchy meditation on some disapproving chick and, well, wanting relations. The garage rock number starts out with percussion block (and drums) reminiscent of the intro to Jane’s Addiction’s “Thank You Boys.” The song’s early going also reminds one of ‘I’ll Be There for You,” the infernal Friends theme song by the Rembrandts, which, listened to just now, divorced from having to watch the show, isn’t that infernal after all. On “Radio, Turn Me On,” the band’s got the ’60s inflection down, and I’d be surprised if they weren’t fans of the Monkees. There’s also an allusion to AC/DC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long” in one of the song’s verses for thematic emphasis. Good guitars, solid melodies, interesting voice, good song.
