Bonham has reimagined “Jumping Bean” from 2000’s Down Here. This version is a slow-builder featuring a familiar, menacing guitar line turned up loud.
A mid-tempo pace and jangly guitars in the Byrds and Monkees tradition. It’s psychedelic, and makes for a tidy B-side which, for me, trumps side one.
This Florida band has been around since the late aughts, and “Hey” is a ripper. It’s got the loud-(somewhat) quiet-loud dynamics, with an emphasis on loud.
“Hit and Run” adheres to the power-poppy side of glam, sounding more like Enuff Z’nuff than dirtball Mötley CrĂĽe or nasty, Appetite…-era Guns N’ Roses.
Buzz Osborne and Gavin Rossdale will never have a lovechild, thankfully, but one interesting outcome might have sounded like East London’s False Heads.
