Shadow Project – From the Heart – Review November 1, 1998 Melodramatic, quiet, usually acoustic, obsessed with God (pro, not con)… Tell you the truth, Williams’ work with EXP is much more interesting.
Gitane DeMone – Am I Wrong? – Review November 1, 1998 The Christian Death sidekick-cum-dark torch singer Gitane DeMone pops up again, with her bizarre ballad/is-it-Goth? schtick.
Gary Numan – Exile – Review November 1, 1998 Don’t expect some sterile “Cars”-type tunes here. It’s nasty, dirty, and has Goth written all over it.
Frontier – 4 – Review November 1, 1998 It’s all guitars. Seriously. They put three guitars and amps in a room, turned up the volume and tweaked the feedback for 70 minutes.
Esthero – Breath from Another – Review November 1, 1998 Drum ‘n’ bass ‘n’ trip hop ‘n’ AAA. The equivalent of Barry Manilow for the electronic crowd.
Dust to Dust – Review November 1, 1998 Like all Projekt albums, like all Steve Roach albums (this time with Roger King), Dust To Dust is slow, moody, and has a lot of space in it.
DJ Hardware – Soundshock Vol 2: The Trance Edition – Review November 1, 1998 Trance can either be subtle and swaying or pulsing rhythmically, soothingly, like the consistent knocking of a radiator or the humming of a fan.
DJ Hardware – Soundshock Vol 1: The Funky Breaks Edition – Review November 1, 1998 I’m never really sure if this is supposed to be a various artists collection or not. Who cares, DJ Hardware presses all the right buttons on The Trance Edition.
Dimitri From Paris – Sacrebleu! – Review November 1, 1998 Lounge meets electronica in France, Breakfast at Tiffany’s as told by HAL, electric martinis… You get the idea.
Delerium – Karma – Review November 1, 1998 Delerium are the guys from Front Line Assembly, Rhys Fulber and Bill Leeb +Sarah McLachlan, Lisa Gerrard. Kristy Thirsk, and Jaqui Hunt.
