Good name, decent band. Pretty straight-forward Lamb of God death metal, minus the killer guitarwork that makes LoG special. So pretty standard riffy metal.
The Darkest Hour riffs are a little simple, but the drummer is a freakin’ beast, tackling death, blast, thrash gallop, and all else under the blackened sun.
More a Ferret band than a Metal Blade band: A one-note singer, dense production, little change in pace or tone, a solid listen, no real gems, no boring tracks.
The quartet ups the anger ante, adding a handful of honest to god blastbeats to the repertoire in an effort to liven things up. For the most part, it works.
This stuff cracks me up. I think it’s supposed to. Goregrind monster-swallowing-the-mic death with buckshot blast drumming and off-kilter staggering guitar.
