Rise Against has once again piqued my interest in this genre, or maybe I’ll just play this record and consider it to be the only punk rock album in existence.
Political punk rock with samples, breakbeats, frantic paces, and both live and synthesized guitars. Lots of whoa-whoa’s, but also plenty of Chemical Brothers.
The line “candy and decay” from “My Addiction” defines the good-time punk of Panty Raid! Though fierce, they remain feminine without resorting to cutesy.
Harnessing punk anger and funneling it through a power pop structure, Armstrong have discovered a formula sought after yet not reached by Sponge and Everclear.
While “(I Wanna Be Your) Density” doesn’t match “(Will You Be My) Judy Jetson,” Nerf Herder’s “Courtney Love” didn’t compare to their classic “Van Halen.”
Punk rock’n’power boogie-rooted rock and fucking roll, keeping the tempos in the mid-quick range, the guitars set on “stun,” and the drums set on “stomp.”
This latest release from A Global Threat is comprised of 15 tracks taken from split EPs released in the late ’90s when Mark Unseen was the lead vocalist.
