For the second time, Cleopatra Records have re-released a classic, silent-era horror film, replacing the original soundtrack with a Gothic industrial mix.
Although Black City ends with a song called “Wild and Crazy,” DOLL aren’t; they sound like The Strokes on downers, or a more “serious” version of The Hives.
The coolest moments are watching Ozzy do the lonely walk to his stage (you really feel the poignancy of his job), or seeing him sign autographs in a mental fog.
Power pop indeed. Most of the songs are of the sure-fire rock variety, complete with many repeated choruses to make sure catchy little buggers have a good grip.
