Second round for this fun-time biker metal diversion for Dimmu’s Shagrath. Lead throat Eddie Guz really makes these songs roar with beery belching pride.
The sound, approach, structure remains intact, but a relaxed sway has infiltrated. From strangled screaming to articulating why they were so goddamn cranked-up.
The plainspoken vocals aligned with the semi-doom crush via melancholy sparkle is mid-90s AmRep, so I see Helmet and Slint more than metal qua metal as rootage.
A Turbonegro cover band, from San Francisco, all girls. They yelp more than Hank, but they’ve got the songs tight’n’right, loose and freewheelin’ as needed.
Killer guitar, something dirty and smoky and sexy and primal, sometimes swaggering, sometimes tasteful blues having at it while the singer leads the way.
The cover is gonna make you think Supersuckers. Still a bit tentative, so the level of attack isn’t quite what it should be, but the raw materials are present.
