Nightstick construct a wall of noisy hate with huge chunks of distorted guitar and not much else. This is nowhere near as hedonistic as Electric Wizard, though.
His songs are folk ballads in the classic sense, but they refuse to wallow in the “woe is me” solipsism that makes most modern folk music the bore that it is.
While this record unquestionably sounds good and has some cool-sounding guitar riffs, there isn’t really anything here that sticks after a couple of listens.
