Drawback

Velvet Voodoo Dolls – Sugar Plum Dandy, Home, Skunkjuice, Mighty Sturgeon, Camerons Way, Drawback, Slowpoke, Lachrymator, Doom Nation – at The Vertex – Review

October 1, 1993

Whether it’s shakin’ it up or stomping around, or even sitting on a monitor and getting personal, singer Joe Alberto’s intensity is captivating.

The Mighty Sturgeon – Velvet Voodoo Dolls, Sugar Plum Dandy, Home, Skunkjuice, Camerons Way, Drawback, Slowpoke, Lachrymator, Doom Nation at The Vertex – Review

October 1, 1993

A reunion of one of the best hardcore party bands this area has seen. The band put on a nonstop show of stage diving, pit madness, and leaping all over.

Sugar Plum Dandy – Velvet Voodoo Dolls, Home, Skunkjuice, The Mighty Sturgeon, Camerons Way, Drawback, Slowpoke, Lachrymator, Doom Nation at The Vertex – Review

October 1, 1993

Their stage show had so many people jumping on the stage, singing a part, and jumping back off that you’re never quite sure who’s actually in the band.

Slowpoke – with Velvet Voodoo Dolls, Sugar Plum Dandy, Home, Skunkjuice, The Mighty Sturgeon, Camerons Way, Drawback, Lachrymator, Doom Nation at The Vertex – Review

October 1, 1993

Complete with singer Tim St. John’s new hair chop, Slowpoke blasted through their set full, tight, and thundering, like the crowd has now come to expect.

Skunkjuice – Velvet Voodoo Dolls, Sugar Plum Dandy, Home, The Mighty Sturgeon, Camerons Way, Drawback, Slowpoke, Lachrymator, Doom Nation at The Vertex – Review

October 1, 1993

The songs were tight and well arranged. I prefer their pit prompters, but the mid tempo songs were well-crafted and catchy.

Lachrymator – Velvet Voodoo Dolls, Sugar Plum Dandy, Home, Skunkjuice, The Mighty Sturgeon, Camerons Way, Drawback, Slowpoke, Doom Nation at The Vertex – Review

October 1, 1993

Lachrymator is for those who used to mosh to the kill-death-Satan sounds of Death, Obituary, Possessed, and the true death metal monster mosh of the late ’80s.

Home – Velvet Voodoo Dolls, Sugar Plum Dandy, Skunkjuice, The Mighty Sturgeon, Camerons Way, Drawback, Slowpoke, Lachrymator, Doom Nation at The Vertex – Review

October 1, 1993

The longing quiet one pushed over the edge. While much of the music was mellow and smooth, each song twisted at some point and howled eerily.

Drawback – Velvet Voodoo Dolls, Sugar Plum Dandy, Home, Skunkjuice, The Mighty Sturgeon, Camerons Way, Slowpoke, Lachrymator, Doom Nation at The Vertex – Review

October 1, 1993

Drawback played many of their faves from their quick-moving demo and a smattering of new material as well. A highlight was their “acoustic love song.”

Doom Nation – Velvet Voodoo Dolls, Sugar Plum Dandy, Home, Skunkjuice, The Mighty Sturgeon, Camerons Way, Drawback, Slowpoke, Lachrymator at The Vertex – Review

October 1, 1993

These guys deserve to be headlining this best of the best show. Doom Nation used to be Doom Patrol, but because of the comic, they had to change their name.

Cameron’s Way – with Velvet Voodoo Dolls, Sugar Plum Dandy, Home, Skunkjuice, The Mighty Sturgeon, Drawback, Slowpoke, Lachrymator, Doom Nation at The Vertex – Review

October 1, 1993

These guys pull no punches and don’t bother with mealy-mouthed foreplay. They exploded into a tight, aggressive hardcore set that got the floor buzzing.
