The band is still playing butt-shaking boogie rock, but the tempo’s a bit less frantic, and the psychedelic effects on the vocals may arch an eyebrow or two.
Perhaps it’s the different singers (I count at least three) or the variety of styles, but this feels like songs from two or three different albums put together.
Bad Wizard are less artists than craftsmen, a band of men (plus one foxy woman) who work hard to make music that’s solid, dependable, and totally functional.
Antona’s nasal emissions are annoying at times, but it allows comparisons to Jane’s Addiction with a sense of humor. More accurate is a groovier Minutemen.
