Gone are the aggressive singing, the abrasive beats, the youthful rancor of old. They’ve been replaced by a mellower, subtler, wiser breed of Front 242.
Pure annoyance. The tracks don’t even share smooth continuity to make it sound as if they were attempting to build some kind of arc toward a larger conclusion.
Imagine standard Decoded Feedback sound with a tint of Dirk Ivens (Dive/Sonar) vocals, a shot of Suicide Commando bass lines, and lots of sampled guitar licks.
“The Master,” a definite standout, is a little ditty about Satan and sounds like it’s backed by The Bad Seeds (Murder Ballads-era) with a lot more whip to it.
PIG returns after five years, making music that ranges from classical samples, worldly beats, metal guitars, and good old industrial in-your-face music.
