Irish folk-oriented punk became popular a few years back, but The Tossers have been doing it for ages, and they’ll keep doing it after the fad wears thin.
Despite having members of The Blue Meanies, this ain’t nothin’ like The Blue Meanies. Like the band name, this is bitchy, mean, ultra-fast hardcore punk.
The Five Deadly Venoms rock out heavily and bruise your ears with their angular melodies, but sometimes they dip in and out of the “soft-to-loud” formula.
Their cover of Motörhead’s “Ace of Spades” rips shit up, creatively blending ska and balls-to-the-wall thrash. Next is a Turtles cover, “Happy Together.”
It was produced by Stephen Egerton and Bill Stevenson. Judge Nothing does a fine job blending Descendents/ALL influences into something original and quality.
Side A is a boisterous number that reminds me of the Crumbsuckers. Side B is a bit slower but has a very catchy chorus that’ll leave you humming for days.
