Beastie Boys – Some Old Bullshit – Review

Beastie Boys

Some Old Bullshit (Grand Royale/Capitol)
by Joey Ammo

For the truly committed Beastie Boys fan, here is 28 minutes of Some Old Bullshit, which compiles their previously hard to find early New York hardcore releases “Polly Wog Stew” and “Cookie Puss.” This lower priced disc fills the fan in on the early history of the band and shows how the transition from punk to rap came about. It also includes a hilarious hate letter from a punk purist couple. Be warned however, that this music is low-fi, low production demo work from the Boys’ earliest days, and is not comparable in quality to any of the band’s recent releases.
