Kittywinder – “Wishing Well” / “Narrow Canal” – Review

Kittywinder

“Wishing Well” / “Narrow Canal” (Zero Hour)
by Scott Hefflon

Kittywinder‘s only two available songs are on this sampler. From their 7″ entitled, “Wishing Well/Narrow Canal,” we get a glimpse of a band with a bright future. Their full-length release, Scream of the Weak (Zero Hour), is due out on Valentine’s Day, 1995. Kittywinder combines three female voices that mesh like a sing-along slumber party; not too pretty, with just enough yelping to offset the jangly, garagey guitar. The fave of the whole sampler is their “Narrow Canal.” Its honest lyrics are based on a metaphor, and it’s so witty you have to chuckle when you hear it. I quote: “The problem lies in the juxtaposition of our two anatomies. There’s just no way you’re going to fit that big thing in there. My narrow canal, your boat is too big for my narrow canal.”
