This is not for the weak. Lost Nation Road (Choke, Inc.) is littered with stuttering, disjointed rhythms, noisy, dissonant guitar lines that occasionally lean towards metal, and screamed and growled vocals. A couple of songs have Zorn-like horn parts screeching over the whole mess. You may have heard similar bands if you’re an AmRep fan – that might have something to do with the fact that they’re from the Midwest and are produced by Steve Albini. What makes Craw better than the average noisemakers is their sense of dynamics amid the chaos. Well worth picking up.
